Bayern Munich supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge would have loved to bring in both Florian Wirtz and Nick Woltemade.
Losing on Wirtz still appears to still hurt Rummenigge, but the executive
thinks that Woltemade’s move was financial madness.
“I have to say honestly, in the case of Florian Wirtz, it still hurts, because I believe the player would have been better off at Bayern than at Liverpool. We could have signed Woltemade. But I also have to say: Bayern Munich are wise enough not to engage in every kind of financial madness. I’ve always said: We want to achieve sporting success, but please, in a serious and financially sound way. We have a top team, this year as well. And when the three players who are currently injured come back soon, then we’ll have a great team,” Rummenigge told Sport Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
It was evident that Bayern Munich really wanted both players . What should be noted, though, is that both players might have missed the boat on a better situation for their individual development.
Bayern Munich will host Werder Bremen in a Bundesliga match that — on paper — looks a little lopsided.
Okay, a lot lopsided.
The Bavarians are scorching hot and Werder Bremen has a slew of injuries, which makes for what could be a very tough challenge against a Bayern Munich team than can just wear down the opposition.
Let’s get into it — this is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show:
- What to watch for with Werder Bremen. Die Werderaner are banged up, but does still have some talent. Will it be enough to shock Bayern Munich? We doubt it.
- A look at Bayern Munich’s injury situation.
- A guess at Bayern Munich’s starting XI.
