The first matchday of the 2026-27 season is officially in the books, everybody. Twenty teams, 10 games played and a total of 24 goals scored. Some of those came from Roma, some of those from defending champions Inter and, of course, just one of those from Juventus.
But considering this was the first weekend of Serie A football for the new campaign, overreaction to one set of results has been the common theme around plenty of parts of the calcio landscape.
So let’s remind everybody of how the results
played out this past weekend (and Monday) …
And the table after Matchday 1 because that is something that everybody will be freaking out about, right?
JUVENTUS IN EIGHTH PLACE?! SEASON OVER!!!!
OK, so the sarcasm is now out of the system and we move on. There were some incredibly interesting developments that took place during Matchday 1 in Serie A. Maybe the most notable being what the guy in the above picture involving the current league table after the first 90 minutes and his teammate Paulo Dybala did against Fiorentina at the Olimpico on Monday night.
There were other things, of course.
That is why this is the chance to discuss the first weekend of the season. And maybe in an over-the-top kind of way, too.
So, the Juventus (and Serie A) Question of the Day is this: What are your knee-jerk reactions to the first weekend of Serie A this season?
