There’s a potentially unfortunate and devastating development happening with former Seattle Seahawks safety Coby Bryant.
According to Chicago Bears beat reporter Adam Hoge, Bryant was carted off of Monday’s practice after grabbing his knee. While he got up on the cart under his own power, the emotions could be telling as far as possibly severity.
Hopefully, it’s not as serious as it sounds. At least he was able to get on the cart under his own power, but that in itself doesn’t always rule out worst case scenarios.
Despite Seattle’s interest in retaining their 2022 fourth-round pick, Chicago ultimately signed Bryant to a three-year, $40 million contract to replace veteran Kevin Byard. Bryant started his Seahawks career as a slot corner, carving out a penchant for forced fumbles. After limited playing time in 2023, Bryant broke through under Mike Macdonald’s defense as a full-time safety, recording seven interceptions over the past two seasons.
The Seahawks do play the Bears on Monday Night Football in Week 8, and the expectation was that we would get to see Bryant take on his former teammates. It is now a wait and see to determine the extent of Coby’s injury.
