According to a report from Sky Germany (as captured by BuLi News), Bayern Munich could be a major player for Borussia Dortmund center-back Nico Schlotterbeck:
Bayern Munich are reportedly keeping tabs on
Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck.
According to Sky Germany, the Bavarians have “strong” interest in the centre-back, whom they were already tracking in 2022 when he moved from Freiburg to Dortmund.
Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg claims that if an opportunity arises to sign Schlotterbeck in 2026, “Bayern will be there.”
Sport Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) also had information on the topic and indicated Real Madrid could be a player as well:
Bayern and Real Madrid are possible destinations for Nico Schlotterbeck should he decide to leave Borussia Dortmund. The German international’s contract expires in 2027. BVB are offering him a new deal until 2030, but Schlotterbeck is playing for time. He wants to become one of the top earners in Dortmund with more than €10m gross per year – and at the same time, he’s aware that the doors to major clubs could open up next summer. Bayern were already interested in Schlotterbeck in 2022 when he was still at Freiburg. Real Madrid are also a topic, especially with the uncertainty around Rüdiger and Alaba. BVB want quick clarity, but Schlotterbeck has no reason to rush. He knows he has the upper hand.
Borussia Dortmund is expected to make a strong play to keep Schlotterbeck and FC Barcelona is also rumored to be very interested in the defender as well. Should Bayern Munich fail to work out a deal with Dayot Upamecano, Schlotterbeck could come further into focus for the Bavarians.
Bayern Munich coasted into this international break with a 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt and immediately (and rightfully) hit Oktoberfest before the squad breaks up for a week-and-a-half for another international break.
It feels like a good time to appreciate these good times and examine why it all has come together under Vincent Kompany so far this season. This is what we have on tap for this episode of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:
- Winning — and some personnel moves — have cured all at Bayern Munich. The winning formula is more complicated than that, but let’s explore why things are going so well and how to keep them moving in that direction.
- Some Bayern players need a break. It is a new world for several player and a tough adjustment, but it could be the difference between winning the Champions League and flaming out early.
- What’s wrong with Florian Wirtz? The former Bayern Munich transfer target got benched at Liverpool, proving again that fit is sometime more important than finances in a footballer’s career.
- Manuel Neuer to get a new deal? Bayern Munich might just be kicking it around.
