The Kansas City Chiefs will return to the familiar confines of Empower Field at Mile High Stadium in Week 8 for a divisional clash against the Denver Broncos. The Chiefs (5-1) currently lead the AFC West, with the Broncos (5-2) in second. This is the second matchup for the clubs, after the Chiefs beat the Broncos 31-10 in Week 1 at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs are coming off a beatdown of their own, a 20-3 loss to the defending Super Bowl champion, the Seattle Seahawks. The Chiefs were outcoached
and outclassed in all phases of the game. Injuries mounted for the team, and even with the return of running back Kenneth Walker III facing his former team, could not muster anything offensively. It was the first game of the season in which they entered the contest as the underdogs.
A better effort will be needed against a Broncos team, who has won three straight and is coming off a 30-16 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Although the Broncos appear to be the hotter team, they suffered key injuries to wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and defensive end Zack Allen in their win. The story of their season is their slow starts and the decline in play of quarterback Bo Nix compared to the 2025 season.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Chiefs opened as a 1.5-point favorite in the game.
This Week 8 clash is a huge game near the midpoint of the season. The winner will have sole possession of first place in the division. A Chiefs win means a sweep of the Broncos and a firm grasp on first place as their schedule gets tougher. A win for the Broncos would tie their season record against the Chiefs and keep the division race alive for the rest of the season.
