Axel Sola got back into the UFC win column earlier today (Sat., July 25, 2026) at UFC Abu Dhabi LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE, as the lightweight prospect stopped Ismael Bonfim with a first-round submission (D’Arce choke).
This was an interesting undercard matchup to say the least. While Sola possesses a better all-around game at 155 pounds it was Bonfim who has demonstrated more stopping power throughout his MMA career. It was going to be up to Sola to ward off any
potential early upsets and utilize his well-balanced attacks to take Bonfim into deep water.
Fortunately for Sola, he didn’t need the second and third rounds to take Bonfim out. Instead, Sola was able to use his grappling early on to control Bonfim on the ground and threaten with submission attempts. Eventually, the D’Arce choke presented itself and Sola took full advantage. It appeared as if Bonfim had some wiggle room to continue to defend, but he ended up tapping pretty quickly.
