The Jets lost a pair of starters to injury in their Week 1 win over the Tennessee Titans.
Wide receiver Omar Cooper suffered an ankle sprain and has been termed “week-to-week” per Ian Rapoport. He will miss time, but at this point the team is not placing him on injured reserve, meaning his timetable to return is theoretically less than four weeks.
Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick is nursing a groin injury and is out 2-3 weeks per Jordan Schultz.
This news is a bit of a mixed bag.
It’s rough to lose starters in Week 1, and them missing additional time is not a positive. However, with both players avoiding IR at the moment, it at least sounds like there is a good chance we will see both Cooper and Fitzpatrick back on the field sooner rather than later. That’s a good thing because Cooper is an important part of the Jets offense, and Fitzpatrick is probably even more important to the defense.
