There is nothing normal about the NFL anymore. What used to be a clear schedule, with clear roster and practice schedules, has devolved into almost anarchy. Rosters used to be cut down slowly but surely through the offseason. Now, a Sunday night cutdown from 90 players to the initial 53-man roster.
The NFL season kicks off with a Wednesday game… WEDNESDAY! Then it is followed by a Thursday game, which would be normal, except that the game is in Melbourne, Australia.
A wild and unusual start to the
2026 NFL season indeed.
For the Cleveland Browns, the start to the season and their schedule are as normal as it gets: Sunday, 1 PM, right down the ticket, except for a To Be Determined Week 18 matchup. The big difference is the two weeks between roster cutdowns and Week 1.
Due to that, Browns players now have a few days off from practice with nothing scheduled until Monday, then the normal practice schedule starting on Wednesday. With how much players use social media, it will be interesting to see which ones post any trips they have planned for this little break, or does everyone stay near Berea after a grueling, hot training camp?
Hopefully the Cleveland roster spends the downtime doing exactly what they need to do in order to be prepared for Week 1, as fans also get to take a breather and prepare for what is to come in the 2026 season.
