Daniel Cormier recently said he was open to the idea of competing against Jon Jones for a third time.
Looks like “DC” got his wish … but they won’t be fighting.
Instead, Cormier will serve as head coach
against Jones for the ALF Global Reality show. This marks the second time “Bones” has led an overseas squad of MMA hopefuls for the Russian Ultimate Fighter (TUF) clone.
Sadly, ALF is short for Alfredo Auditore and has no connection to Gordon Shumway.
Jones and Cormier shared the announcement on their social media pages but have yet to comment.
It’s been more than eight years since Jones stopped Cormier in their UFC 214 championship rematch, only to see his victory overturned by way of drug testing shenanigans.
I guess they didn’t test for cocaine ahead of UFC 182.
Both fighters would eventually retire from competition, though Jones is currently begging UFC CEO, Dana White, for a spot on the UFC White House fight card.
UFC fans trying to watch the next season of ALF Reality Global are likely doing so in hopes of catching another one of these knock-down, drag-out brawls.
Expect more details on the Jones vs. Cormier coaching rivalry in the coming days.
