Happy Thursday, soccer fans! U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!
Here’s your daily recap and upcoming matches for today.
Day 20 Recap
England 2-1 DR Congo
Goals: Kane (75’, 86’) | Cipenga (7’)
Look, I might be going out on a limb here but I think we can expect some great things from this young guy [checks notes] Harry Kane. I will miss Dr. Congo, who had a good bedside manner and was fun to watch.
Belgium 3-2 Senegal
Goals: Lukaku (86’), Tielemans (89’, 120+5 [PK])
This was some epic bag-fumbling from Senegal, who had a two goal lead going into
the 85th minute and managed to lose the match 3-2 in extra time thanks to a last-gasp penalty by Youri Tielemans. I feel bad for Senegal. But this is excellent #content.
USA 2-0 Bosnia Herzegovina
Goals: Balogun (45’), Tillman (82’)
It sure looked like the football gods were ready to unfairly smite the USMNT after Folarin Balogun was handed a rather bullshit red card after scoring to put USA ahead. But then Malik Tillman, stepped up and planted a free kick from the edge of the box past Bosnia’s keeper and 10-man USA advanced. Balogun, however, will now miss the R16 match against Belgium next week.
