The transfer market is always full of twists, and one of the more intriguing stories involves highly rated Croatian defender Luka Vušković. Reports suggesting that Brighton have reached an agreement for the young center-back naturally raise the question of whether Bayern Munich should attempt a late intervention.
On paper, the argument for Bayern Munich is obvious. Vušković is considered one of the most promising defensive talents in Europe. Standing out for both his physical presence and technical
ability, he has already shown maturity beyond his years. Bayern Munich have traditionally been at their best when identifying elite young talent before the rest of the continent catches up. The club built long-term success by acquiring players who could develop into stars rather than simply buying established names at premium prices.
There is also a practical argument. Bayern Munich’s central defense remains a position that could use long-term planning. Dayot Upamecano has shown quality and Jonathan Tah provides experience, yet he is not a long-term solution. Kim Min-jae and Hiroki Itō are also both rumored to be for sale.
Bringing in a player like Vušković could help secure the future of the position for the next decade.
On the other hand, Brighton’s reputation for developing young players cannot be ignored. The Premier League club has become one of Europe’s best destinations for emerging talent because it offers a clear pathway to first-team football. Bayern Munich, meanwhile, have often struggled to provide significant minutes to young prospects when trophies are on the line. For a teenager, regular playing time can be more valuable than joining a global giant immediately.
Ultimately, the question is not whether Vušković is talented enough for Bayern Munich. It is whether Bayern Munich can offer a better developmental environment than Brighton. If the club truly believes he can become a world-class defender, making an aggressive move now could pay off for years to come.
