Cornerback Sam Webb has retired from football four days after signing with the New York Giants.

Webb signed with the Giants on Thursday, played 14 snaps on Saturday in the Giants’ preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings, and was placed on the NFL reserve/retired list on Sunday.

The 28-year-old Webb has played in 36 NFL games over four seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, Carolina Panthers, and Cleveland Browns.

The Giants have had a rash of injuries at cornerback, with Dru Phillips, Paulson Adebo,

and Greg Newsome all missing time.

With this news, the Giants will likely be back in the cornerback market.

The Giants might also be looking for running back help after the news that Dante Miller could miss time with what coach John Harbaugh believes is a groin or soft tissue injury.

The Giants will practice at Quest Diagnostics Training Center Monday and Tuesday before traveling to Miami on Wednesday for Thursday’s joint practice against the Miami Dolphins.
