College basketball teams will officially be looking to add players beginning today (April 7), as the transfer portal is officially open until April 21. While there have been a ton of players that have already announced their intentions to enter the portal, they can now make things official and begin looking for their next team.
As it pertains to Dusty May and the Michigan Wolverines, there will certainly be holes to fill in the coming weeks due to Yaxel Lendeborg, Roddy Gayle Jr., Nimari Burnett and Will
Tschetter all being out of college eligibility. With L.J. Cason expected to miss all of next season, it would not be a surprise to see Michigan go after some point guards this offseason to back up the returning Elliot Cadeau. It’s also possible that both Aday Mara and Morez Johnson Jr. test the NBA Draft waters — this could result in Michigan going after some big men as well.
Needless to say, the Wolverines will look quite different next season, and building the 2026-27 group begins now.
