The story of the Washington Commanders 2025 season has been injuries, and the amount of time lost by starters. The team was relatively healthy going into yesterday’s game against the Giants in New Jersey.
They had WRs Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown back from extended absences, but were still without QB Jayden Daniels who reaggravated his dislocated elbow last week. Chris Rodriguez Jr also missed yesterday’s game with a new groin injury that he tested out before the game.
The injuries started early with Noah Brown going out with what was initially called a back injury in the 1st quarter. He was later ruled out with a rib injury, ending his second game back early. Brown returned to the lineup last week, after being out since Week 2 with a groin injury.
Darius Rush was elevated from the practice squad for the first time this season with starting CB Jonathan Jones out with a new rib injury. He suffered a groin injury in the 2nd quarter and was questionable to return.
Laremy Tunsil has been in the headlines this week after saying he wants to get paid in the off-season, and also stay with Washington. He left the game with injuries twice, with Brandon Coleman replacing him both times. His first injury was listed as a shoulder injury, and then he was questionable to return with an oblique injury.
Tight end depth was already thin with Zach Ertz going to IR after tearing his ACL last week. John Bates and Ben Sinnott are the next up for a lead role, but Colson Yankoff has been fighting for playing time, while being a core special teams player. He left the game in the 3rd quarter, and was questionable to return.
Eddie Goldman was the last player to get injured and designated as questionable to return. He was checked for a concussion in the 4th quarter.
Dan Quinn will talk to the media later today, but will probably only give limited updates on any injured players. The Commanders have a short week as they prepare to host the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday. They will be back at practice tomorrow, and will likely release an estimated injury report before a full practice on Wednesday.
