We were talking about Duke’s win over Texas Tech in the 2022 NCAA tournament recently, and how tough that game was.
As you may remember, the Red Raiders had a 33-29 lead at the half, and their no-middle defense was very challenging.
Things changed in the second half.
Duke shot 71% in the second half, outscoring Texas Tech 49-40, and hit their last eight shots.
One of the biggest factors in that very tough win was the outstanding play of Jeremy Roach.
He hit a layup with 3:35 left to put Duke up, 66-65,
and hit two key jumpers down the stretch to help Duke nail down the win.
Keep in mind that Texas Tech had the nation’s toughest defense that year, and in the second half, Duke absolutely shredded it.
Even so, it was anything but an easy win. Roach played a huge role in beating a very, very tough team.
