It’s only Week 5, but on Sunday afternoon at Lumen Field the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers will take to the field for a division matchup with early season playoff positioning at stake.
The Niners currently sit atop the NFC West with an unblemished 4-0 record, while the Seahawks enter the game 3-1 and looking to knock the 49ers off their perch in order to lay claim to first place in the division by way of tiebreaker.
In an interesting, albeit absolutely meaningless, trivia factoid, Mike Macdonald
is 0-2 in games played in Week 5 so far in his career. In 2025 it was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who came into Lumen as 3.5 point underdogs and escaped with a 38-35 victory, while in 2024 the 7.0-point underdog New York Giants marched up and down the field to the tune of 420 yards on their way to escaping with a 29-20 victory.
When the teams take the field, the Seahawks will finally have their entire starting secondary group on the field together for the first time in 2026. Devon Witherspoon, Josh Jobe and Nehemiah Pritchett have played every game at corner, but safety has been a completely different story. Julian Love missed Week 3 with a calf injury, all purpose defender Nick Emmanwori who happens to be designated a safety on the roster missed Week 1 and has slowly seen his playing time ramp up, and Ty Okada is active for the first time this season here in Week 5.
The full list of inactives is:
- QB Jalen Milroe
- RB Robert Henry Jr
- TE Nick Kallerup
- WR Montorie Foster Jr
- LB Chazz Surratt
And now it’s on to kickoff.
