The San Francisco 49ers announced a few roster moves Saturday afternoon. The team removed Christian Kirk’s questionable status for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons and officially activated him from the Injured Reserve List.
With Mike Evans ruled out, Here’s a look at the wide receiver depth chart heading into Week 7:
Brandin Cooks
Jordan Watkins
Jacob Cowing
Kirk
Malik Turner
It’ll be interesting to see if this is one of those games where Brock Purdy sprays the ball around to every pass catcher
on the field, or if Christian McCaffrey sees another spike in his usage since the 49ers have a week off coming up for him to rest.
It’s also a game where we could see Kyle Shanahan lean on George Kittle. The Falcons allow the third-most targets and fourth-most receiving yards to tight ends. They limit the big play, but concede underneath. That could work in the 49ers’ favor.
The team brought edge rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo back to the practice squad and released defensive tackle Kevin Givens. So, linebacker Jalen Graham and Okoronkwo were elevated from the practice squad to the active roster.
Mykel Williams, Keion White, Okoronkwo, Romello Height, and Khalid Kareem will keep things steady until Nick Bosa returns. The unit has exceeded expectations. You could say the same for each individual, too.
