We recently got a pretty good indication that three-time AEW Women’s World champion Hikaru Shida was on her way back to the United States — and presumably All Elite Wrestling — when she posted about boarding a flight to America.
That also meant the Visa issues Kenny Omega discussed had to have been resolved, something Shida confirmed on a YouTube live stream last night (Oct. 3).
Discussing her most recent performance with MAKAI, a Japanese company specializing in combat musical theater (I guess? It
looks pretty cool), Shida revealed she’s got a new Visa and a new contract, which we’re pretty sure is with AEW.
She said:
“It’s about a wrestler. The title was ‘Retirement’ and this is the story of the wrestler [who] just announced her retirement, and that’s me. Actually, after the show many fans asked me like ‘Are you retiring or is it just a play?’ And of course it’s just a play. I’m not retiring, I just renewed my Visa and contract so I’m not retiring. But fans asked me so that means my acting was too good.”
No word on what Shida will be doing when she gets back to AEW, but there are some new belts she could go after with a partner…
