Barcelona loanee Ansu Fati is back from injury and back in the goals for Monaco. The forward scored on Friday night in a 3-1 defeat to Lorient in Ligue 1.
It’s a good moment for Fati who was making his first appearance since the end of November after recovering from a hamstring problem. His goal is his first since early October and means he now has six in 11 top flight appearances for Monaco.
Monaco and Fati now go on to face Real Madrid next in the Champions League on Tuesday at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Madrid head into the fixture after a chaotic week that might just give Monaco hope of securing a famous result in the Spanish capital.
Los Blancos were beaten by Barcelona in the final of the Spanish Super Cup on Sunday night which led to the departure of Xabi Alonso as manager.
Alvaro Arbeloa was promptly installed as manager and endured a nightmare first game in charge as Real Madrid crashed out of the Copa del Rey against Albacete.
As for Fati, he’s struggled for game time after initially making a bright start at Monaco, and there have been reports the Ligue 1 club have already decided they don’t want to keep him.
He still does have time to make an impact in the final months of the season and would surely love nothing more than to pour more misery on Real Madrid next week.
