The San Francisco 49ers will be down another wide receiver for “at least a couple of weeks”, according to Kyle Shanahan.
Shanahan said Samuel “got pretty good” when speaking about his injury. The 49ers face the Commanders and Falcons before their bye week. It’s reasonable to assume we won’t see Deebo until after the Niners’ bye.
Ian Rapoport said Deebo pulled his hamstring and is expected to miss “several weeks.”
Christian Kirk has yet to return from a preseason injury that happened on the first day.
Demarcus Robinson is on the injured reserve with a high-ankle sprain. The Niners will have to get to the bye week with what’s on the roster in-house.
On Sunday, Mike Evans led the way with 36 snaps. Deebo and Jacob Cowing played 25 snaps. Brandin Cooks was next at 21, while Jordan Watkins played 20, but ran a team-low nine routes.
A trade for a receiver at the deadline feels like the kind of move that cements the Niners as Super Bowl contenders.
Linebacker Garret Wallow also has a hamstring injury that’ll sideline him for a bit. The 49ers can’t seem to escape a game without losing meaningful players to injuries.
There is some good news on the injury front. Nick Bosa “has a chance” to play next Monday night against the Commanders. The same is true for fullback Kyle Juszczyk and defensive tackle James Thompson Jr. All three players will be evaluated as the week goes along. They are “all in the same boat.”
