Real Madrid have issued an official statement in response to reports surrounding a recent Supreme Court decision related to concerts held at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Earlier on Wednesday, several media outlets reported that Spain’s Supreme Court had rejected an appeal filed by the club and returned the case to Madrid’s Administrative Court No. 31. The reports led to widespread discussion about the future of concerts at the Bernabéu and the legal challenges surrounding the venue’s use for large-scale
events.
However, Real Madrid moved quickly to clarify the situation, arguing that the court’s decision has been misinterpreted.
In an official statement, the club stressed that the Supreme Court has not ruled on whether the concerts were legal or illegal and emphasized that the case remains ongoing.
Real Madrid’s full statement:
“In light of the information published in various media outlets regarding the recent Supreme Court ruling, Real Madrid CF wishes to make the following clarifications:
The Supreme Court has not issued any ruling on the legality of the concerts held at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
The decision announced today refers exclusively to a procedural matter and means that the legal proceedings initiated by a neighborhood association will continue before the corresponding court.
Therefore, there is currently no court ruling that has declared that the concerts held in the stadium were contrary to urban planning regulations or applicable licenses.
It is also worth remembering that holding concerts at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium is subject to the same system of authorizations and administrative controls that applies to other large sports venues, such as the Metropolitano stadium, where concerts are currently being held.
The judicial proceedings will now continue their ordinary course and it is within that framework that, if necessary, the issues raised by the parties will be analyzed.”
