It had been a disappointing outing from Bayern Munich against SC Freiburg for 80 minutes. Down 2-0 against the hosts despite some decent early play and lucky not to be 3 or 4 goals down, few gave Bayern a chance to win the match. As cliché as it might seem, however, this is still Bayern Munich. The team retained the confidence that they could win the game all the way to the end, boosted by two spectacular Tom Bischof goals that drew them level in the 92nd minute before a 99th minute winner from Lennart
Karl send the away fans into a frenzy.
It was a remarkable feat of mental strength and man of the match Bischof explained how the team retained belief.
“We wouldn’t be Bayern if we didn’t always believe in ourselves until the end,” the Germany international simply stated, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “Of course, there was a bit of luck involved in the end, but even after the 2-2, we were still determined to win it. We simply realize what kind of team we are. We always stick together.”
This is the 20-year-old’s first season at Bayern and those were his first two competitive goals for the club. What a way for it to happen.
