The Dallas Cowboys are fully into their offseason mode, having already fired defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. The Cowboys missing the playoffs was disappointing as was suffering through their second consecutive losing season.
There is plenty of blame to go around for the 2025 season. As always, we can start at the very top in Jerry Jones. The Cowboys owner got things off to a shaky start by botching the Micah Parsons contract and eventually trading him right before the season. From there the Cowboys rarely
found solid footing, and despite a midseason mini-run, they never found true traction in the playoff picture.
The Cowboys also broke in a new skipper in 2025. Despite decades of coaching experience, Brian Schottenheimer had never been the head coach of an NFL team. The Cowboys turned to him after the Mike McCarthy negotiations fell through, and asked him to navigate the 2025 season.
There were highs and lows as well as unforeseen difficulties like the Parsons trade and Marshawn Kneeland’s death. Schottenheimer seems to have straddled the line between player’s coach and disciplinarian, a tricky task to accomplish.
So for today’s survey, we wanted to know, besides your confidence in the direction of the team, how you would grade Schottenheimer’s first season in charge of the Cowboys?
Vote in the poll and then hit the comments with your reasoning.
