Barcelona have still not given up on a deal for Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez, and a key meeting is set to take place soon.
According to Gerard Romero of Jijantes, Barça sporting director Deco travelled to Madrid late on Tuesday to meet with Álvarez’s agent, Fernando Hidalgo.
The meeting will serve to define the strategy between the two parties to finally convince Atlético to negotiate. Barça are willing to up their initial offer of €100 million, and the club is also counting on Julián to make
another public gesture after his public transfer request six weeks ago.
Atlético remain adamant they will not sell, but Julián has already informed the Colchoneros in multiple occasions that he wants to join the Catalans.
Hansi Flick reiterated on Monday that he would like Barça to sign a striker and has “complete confidence” in Deco to get a deal over the line, and the sporting director has taken action to try and pull off a dream signing for the Blaugrana.
