Liverpool star Florian Wirtz put on an absolute masterclass during Germany’s 4-3 victory over Switzerland as he compiled two (terrific) goals and two (amazing) assists.
Simply put, Germany would have been up a creek without a paddle if Wirtz did not play. After the game, though, Wirtz admitted to missing his national team running mate — Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala. Wirtz also said that he totally understands the frustration of attempting to come back from a long-term injury.
“I know what it’s
like to be out for a long time. It’s annoying. But I’m really looking forward to his return. I text him every now and then. Jamal is a very important player for us,” Wirtz told Sky Germany journalist Kerry Hau (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
If Wirtz and Musiala are both 100% healthy for the World Cup, it could be an electric combination for Julian Nagelsmann. Clearly, having one of them is good, but with two? You can double the fun.
