It’s time to start preparing for the 2025 Syracuse Orange women’s basketball season. We’re going through the roster to take a look at each Syracuse player as we get to know a lot of new faces for Year 3 of the Felisha Legette-Jack era.
Up next is…
Name: Justus Fitzgerald
Position: Forward
Year: Freshman
Height: 6’1’’
Hometown: Norcross, GA
High School/Previous College: Norcross High School
2024 accolades:
Fitzgerald was the Georgia Athletics Coaches Association (GACA) 7A North All-State selection as well
as the region’s Co-Player of the Year.
2025 projections:
The Norcross native is not expected to start right away for the Orange, as players like sophomore Keira Scott and Senior Journey Thompson will likely get those nods. Despite this, it is possible Fitzgerald becomes a key contributor off the bench. According to Syracuse Women’s Basketball Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack, Fitzgerald “will bring athleticism, enthusiasm, [and] competitiveness” to this squad.
How’d she get here?:
Fitzgerald received offers from Howard, Georgia State, Furman and Georgetown, before committing to ‘Cuse in September.
What’d recruiting sites say?: According to the Sandy’s Spiel Spring Showcase Girls Evaluations, Fitzgerald brings great size and physicality to the court. She isn’t afraid to go after a tough rebound and is comfortable handling the ball in the full court. She has shown flashes playmaking potential and looks for the outlet pass upon gaining possession. The freshman was also named a top 100 player in the Atlanta Metro area by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.

Interesting nugget o’interest:
Fitzgerald survived two severe seizures in high school caused by a rare infection that spread to her brain. After nearly a week in the hospital and months of recovery, she hasn’t had a seizure in over two years and says the experience gave her a deep gratitude for her health. She credits the ordeal with strengthening her faith and preparing her for challenges ahead.
