(51-65) Louisville Bats @ (47-68) Gwinnett Stripers – 7:05 PM ET
Pitching Probables
LOU: Charlie Barnes (0-0)
GWI: JR Ritchie (1-0, 4.09 ERA)
The Stripers turn to JR Ritchie to come back from some horrible losses – including last night’s horrible blowout 14-2 loss. This will be JR’s first start against the Bats, and he looks to build off of a solid last start (against the Clippers) where he pitched six innings of three earned run ball. It will be interesting to see how Ritchie finishes out the year because he’s put up 102.1 innings this season, which is essentially
twice as many as he’s thrown in any season.
He will be going up against Charlie Barnes who returns to Major League Baseball, after a four season stint in the KBO where he went 35-32 with a 3.58 ERA. He has struggled this season, having made eight starts for the Lotte Giants with a 5.92 ERA.
Luke Waddell and recent acquisition Jesús Bastidas have been the strongest position players this series for the Stripers.
(46-61) Columbus Clingstones @ (60-50) Biloxi Shuckers – 7:35 PM ET
Pitching Probables
COL: Lucas Braun (4-4, 4.12 ERA)
BIL: Alexander Cornielle (4-6, 3.56 ERA)
Twenty three year old Lucas Braun looks to build off of his strong last start (4IP 2H 0R 4BB 8K) against the Rocket City Trash Pandas, in what has been a bit of an up and down season with some bad luck – which can easily be seen from his 4.12 ERA but 3.04 xFIP. He’s still generating a lot of whiffs on a per start basis and has looked overpowering at times, but has simply been a bit unlucky this year. He looks to provide another good start and hope that the Clingstones resurgent offense continues to put up numbers like last night.
David McCabe is on an absolute heater right now – hitting .341/.412/.541 over his last 24 games. With Clohisy at the top, Espinoza moved down, and the addition of Jim Jarvis, the Clingstones offense has looked a lot stronger, with at least a lot more regular quality at bats throughout a game.
The Clingstones face RHP Alexander Cornielle who last pitched against the Clingstones back on June 26th where he gave up two earned runs over five innings of work. Since then, he’s struggled a bit as he had a 2.94 ERA at the time of that game, and it is now sitting at 3.56 on the year, however he is coming off of a one earned run appearance against the Smokies on August 8th.
(58-49) Bowling Green Hot Rods @ (44-63) Rome Emperors – 5:00 PM ET
Pitching Probables
BOW: TBD
ROM: Herick Hernandez (2-6, 4.06 ERA)
Whiffmaster Herick Hernandez looks to exact revenge and set the tone for the Emperors in a double header day. Herick is coming off of one of his best starts of the season on the 8th against the Greenville Drive where he shut down the Drive offense (6IP 2H 0R 4BB 4K).
The new look Emperors offense is a lot strong with some additions as Colby Jones, Isaiah Drake, as well as Alex Lodise and Logan Braunschweig have really lengthened the lineup.
The Hot Rods have not announced a starter for either game.
(58-49) Bowling Green Hot Rods @ (44-63) Rome Emperors – GAME 2
Pitching Probables
BOW: TBD
ROM: TBD
(57-49) Augusta GreenJackets @ (52-58) Kannapolis Cannon Ballers – 6:30 PM ET
Pitching Probables
AUG: Kendy Richard (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
KAN: Kaleb Sophy (3-2, 4.91 ERA)
Kendy Richard looks to extend his scoreless pitching streak since coming stateside in another game against the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers. Kendy has now appeared in two games and pitched 9.2 innings and has yet to allow a run. He’s shown a solid three pitch mix (fastball, slider, changeup) and has been able to locate them well enough to really frustrated Low-A hitters.
He will hopefully have some good run support, as the GreenJackets are coming off of one of the best offensive performances of the year for any Braves team. They throttled the Cannon Ballers last night – collecting 19 hits and scoring 13 runs. Every single GreenJackets hitter collected at least one hit, and every single one got on base at least twice.
They will face Kaleb Sophy who is coming off of one of his strongest starts of the year (5IP 4H 3ER 3BB 6K). Despite being in Low-A all season, he has somehow missed the Augusta GreenJackets, so this will be his first start against them on the season.
(29-21) DSL Red Sox Blue @ (20-29) DSL Braves – 11:00 AM ET
Pitching Probables
RED: TBD
BRA: TBD
The Braves will be looking get back into the win column after nearly missing out on a furious comeback win against the DSL Orioles Orange. Gabriel Cesa, Angel Carmona, and Juan Espinal have been doing a lot of the heavy lifting on offense of late, while Diego Tornes recovers from a small elbow injury that has limited his in game activity of late.
