The Washington Commanders are holding their rookie minicamp over the next two days. They have 6 draft picks that were all signed today. The invite list also includes 21 tryout players, 8 second-year players, and their returning IPP player. Quinn talked about draft picks Sonny Styles(1st round, No. 7 overall) and Antonio Williams(3rd round, No. 71 overall). Styles can play both linebacker spots and there’s no limit to what he can become. He will be in competition during training camp, and could be a candidate
to wear the green dot now that Bobby Wagner isn’t on the team to lead the defense.
Quinn reiterated what GM Adam Peters said about Williams. He can play in the slot and outside, and he has excellent route running ability coming out of college. He also mentioned 6th-round RB Kaytron Allen, saying that he has demonstrated power. He also said he hasn’t called him by the Fatman nickname that his mother gave him as a child.
The Commanders signed former Iowa kicker Drew Stevens after the draft, and Quinn confirmed that he will be in competition with returning kicker Jake Moody. He was re-signed, but it never felt like his job was safe. Stevens will have the opportunity to win his first NFL job this summer.
