I love a good pink kit. I always have. The first time I noticed a good pink kit was back in 2010/11 when Everton’s change kit was this uniquely glaring shade of hot pink. It was LOUD. It was in your face. You didn’t see many kits outside of Palermo that were pink back then. I loved it. I’ve more or less pined for a Tottenham Hotspur pink kit ever since, but never thought it would ever happen. I mean, Spurple is the (deserved) change kit color of choice for the discerning Spurs fan, right?
Well guess
what — Footy Headlines, the de facto gold standard website for leaked football kit details, just posted that Tottenham’s 2027-28 away kit will be… and you’re never going to believe this… PINK.
The Elemental Pink color will be the primary colorway, with black and Jersey Gold apparently being used for trim contrast, the Nike Swoosh, club crest, and sponsor applications.
Now, my enthusiasm for this particular pink kit comes with a couple of caveats. First, I am extremely unsure about the combination of Elemental Pink and Jersey Gold. I’m hardly an artist, but those are not colors I’d expect to put together and have them look, well, good. The Gold and the Black work fine together, and maybe that’s the application we’ll see these new kits in?
And it should also be noted that the only thing we have are the color swatches — Footy Headlines doesn’t (yet) have any leaks on the actual design, and that’s a pretty big deal. Because if these kits are featuring direct clashes between the pink and gold colors, well, that’s something that could go south pretty quickly. Nike away and third kits like to go bold with weird patterns and the color combo could be uhhhhhhhhh pretty interesting.
But pink? Pink and black I can get behind. And if these turn out to be as good as I hope they will, I might have to set aside a few pennies a month to save up for one of these. Until then, I’ll just keep chanting “pink kits… pink kits… pink kits…” to myself over and over again and smiling.
