San Francisco 49ers star pass rusher Nick Bosa told reporters, “I feel great” and “I’m ready to go” on Wednesday. Bosa said it’s been tough, but he’s thinking more about the long haul.
Bosa spoke about his injury:
“It was my other leg. I must’ve had some type of compensation going on, especially in that first week back, just kind of trying to push it back with the tendonitis. So, I may have been favoring it a little bit. I was just doing my normal warm-up drills one day, and I tweaked it. Calves are
a pretty long process. I’ve never had one, so it took a little longer than I expected. But I don’t even think about it anymore.”
Bosa said the calf injury was unrelated to his Achilles.
Bosa also mentioned how he could’ve returned earlier. General manager John Lynch was asked about the long-term strategy and plan for Bosa:
We don’t take any game for granted, believe me. We only play 17 of these in the regular season, so they all count immensely. I think what we try to do in every situation is, we get our medical people, the doctors, the trainers, and the player involved. And we kinda look at these injuries from every angle involved, and we push ‘em to try to get them back. And when they’re ready, and there are a bunch of objective numbers to hit, to be able to do that.
Nick saying that, he probably felt like he could, but I think all working together, we came to the decision that it was best to wait through Atlanta, to get the bye week and then come back. We’re happy we have him back. He’s obviously a difference maker when he’s out there. It will be great to have Nick out there on the field and making a difference like he always does.
For as much talk as there is surrounding DeForest Buckner helping out the defensive tackles, Bosa takes immense pressure off Keion White and Romello Height to be every-down players and playing in situations you otherwise wouldn’t. The line will be fresh, but it will also have top-to-bottom talent we haven’t seen since 2022.
