The Wisconsin Badgers are kicking off their season with an exhibition game on Friday, taking on the Oklahoma Sooners in Milwaukee at the Fiserv Forum.
It’s a deviation from Wisconsin’s exhibition games in the past, as the Badgers added a second one this season to face a Power 4 team in a big opportunity. That allowed them to make another trip to Milwaukee this season (Wisconsin hosts Villanova at the Fiserv Forum in December).
They’ll face an Oklahoma team that went 20-14 a season ago, including 6-12
in SEC play, which earned them a No. 9 seed in the NCAA Tournament. However, they did lose lottery pick Jeremiah Fears, as well as their six other top scorers, so this year’s group will look much different for head coach Porter Moser.
Oklahoma added four transfers: Alabama forward Darrion Reid, St. Joseph’s guard Xzayvier Brown, Miami guard Nijel Pack, and Notre Dame forward Tae Davis. Additionally, they brought in four freshmen: four-star forward Alec Blair, four-star center Kai Rogers, three-star guard Jake Hansen, and international center Andreas Holst.
So, it’ll be a brand-new team for the Badgers and a brand-new team for Oklahoma facing off against each other.
