Good morning everyone and welcome to the first edition this year of A Look at the Month Ahead, where hoddle headquarters takes a look at what’s in store for all things Tottenham Hotspur this month.
And
what a way to start a month. We’ve only just begun but already Tottenham drew a boring 0-0 against Brentford, reportedly have sealed an agreement to send Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace, recalled loanee Jamie Donley from Stoke City and – on the women’s side – sealed a long-term signing.
Tottenham Hotspur men’s squad:
Much of the conversations today will focus on the men’s side, whose head coach Thomas Frank was booed by the away fans after Spurs’ drab draw at Brentford. Looking at January, things aren’t getting any easier. Spurs still have to play their remaining two Champions League games, have tough matches against Sunderland and Villa, plus a derby against West Ham.
Of course, the beginning of January also marks the beginning of the transfer window. It appears Johnson is already on his way out, but is anyone coming in? That’s one of the many questions that will need to be resolved.
January schedule: Sunderland (4 Jan), at Bournemouth (7 Jan), Aston Villa (10 Jan; FA Cup), West Ham (17 Jan), Dortmund (20 Jan; Champions League), at Burnley (24 Jan), at Frankfurt (28 Jan; Champions League)
Tottenham Hotspur women’s squad:
It’s a strange month for the women’s squad, with two games against Leicester in two different competitions. A quick look at the table suggests Spurs should do just fine against the Foxes. And then there’s that away match against Liverpool who, interestingly enough, are bottom of the table.
I’m not one to count points before games are played, but this month presents a pretty good opportunity for the women’s side to build on the momentum they’ve made since the start of the season.
January schedule: Leicester (11 Jan), at Leicester (18 Jan; FA Women’s Cup), at Liverpool (25 Jan)
