It has been a productive week for Kentucky Basketball, the first week of the offseason following a crushing loss to Iowa State in the NCAA Tournament.
Mark Pope has brought on Keegan Brown as the Director of Roster Management, a man Pope worked with closely at BYU.
Then on Friday, Pope and the Cats finally got on the board with their first class of 2026 commit in point guard Mason Williams, the son of former NBA Champion Mo Williams. It’s good momentum for the Cats, but could they look to make another
late splash with a Bluegrass product?
Reigning Kentucky Mr. Basketball, Jake Feldhaus, has asked for his NLI release from Belmont following a coaching change down in the Music City, according to NextUpRecruits. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because it is with Big Blue Nation.
Jake’s family is rich when it comes to Kentucky Basketball. Jake’s grandfather, Allen Feldhaus Sr., played for Adolph Rupp from 1959-62.
Then, there’s Jake’s father, Deron, who played a big role on “The Unforgettables” and scored over 1,200 points. Deron and the Cats advanced to the 1992 Elite Eight, and we all know how that ended.
For now, it’s unclear if Kentucky will have much, if any, interest in the younger Feldhaus, who is ranked 185th nationally in the 2026 class by Prep Hoops.
