The Atlanta Braves continued the Carlos Carrasco saga ahead of Friday’s series opener. The club recalled right-hander Anthony Molina to Atlanta before designating Carrasco for assignment.
The move marks the third time this season that Carrasco has been DFA’d. Assuming the same trend continues, he will rejoin the organization via a minor league deal.
As for Molina, he has thrown just two innings
for the Braves this season, and in that period, he has yet to give up a hit. He’s done much more work in the minors, where he’s thrown 30 innings in Triple-A and put together a 4.50 ERA.
Nonetheless, Molina brings a fresh arm to the bullpen, should the Braves need it.
