Lerone Murphy suffered the first defeat of his professional career in the UFC London main event last weekend across the pond. Perhaps the fight would have ended differently had “The Iceman” not torn his hip flexor in the fourth frame; but Murphy still thinks he did enough to outlast Movsar Evloev.
A hip flexor, according to Physiopedia, is a muscle that functions in flexing the hip.
“I loved every second of the fight,” Murphy wrote on Instagram. “I thought I done enough to take the first three rounds
although it was close. A draw at the very least with the point deduction, but on to the next. Movsar fought a smart fight and didn’t give me many openings. I could have created a bit more chaos. I hope we can run this back at some point. I’LL BE BACK WITH A VENGEANCE.”
Murphy dropped to 17-1-1 in defeat.
“I thought Lerone — and I’ve got nothing against Movsar, and this is not me being biased, for all the American fans — I thought Lerone should have won that fight,” color commentator, Michael Bisping, said on his YouTube channel. “I thought he won the first three rounds. I thought Movsar didn’t pick it up and really start going for it until Rounds 4 and 5. And clearly Movsar won Rounds 4 and 5. But even still, that’s three rounds to two. And then, even if you give Movsar the third round, which was a close one, Movsar had a point deducted for the two groin shots. He had a point deducted in Round 4.”
In the process, he may have deducted himself from the 145-pound title picture.
