Newcastle United returns to St James’ Park on Saturday evening to face Aston Villa in the Premier League, looking to bounce back from the 4-1 defeat at Coventry City on Monday.
Matthias Jaissle’s side has now lost its last two away league games by that same shaming scoreline and enters the weekend with two wins, two draws and two defeats from six matches, although Newcastle remains unbeaten in five straight home games in all competitions.
Villa arrives after a 6-0 Champions League win over Fenerbahce
and has won four of its last six matches in all competitions, although Unai Emery’s side sits 16th in the Premier League with five points. Newcastle has won six of the last 10 meetings between the clubs in all competitions.
