During a chat with the Dallas Morning News, reigning Intercontinental Champion Penta was asked about never really crossing paths with his brother, Rey Fenix, since they both came to WWE. They’ve both seen success as solo acts — Penta is the current IC champ, as mentioned, and Fenix is the cruiserweight champion in AAA — but there will always be questions about the two coming together to reform their popular Lucha Brothers team.
According to Penta, it’s not a matter of if but when:
“Definitely, definitely.
I expect that. Because I know in my heart, at some point, the Lucha Bros. come together again. When? I don’t know exactly, but (for) now, I’ll enjoy this this kind of season in my life, in my career, in singles. My brother, too. Now he is champion, I am champion. Now we’ve started building in different ways. … But the most important thing is, I promise you, one time in some point the Lucha Bros. will be back.”
The timing could line up sooner rather than later, considering there’s reason to believe Chad Gable will continue his redemption story with a title win over Penta at SummerSlam. That would at least open up things up for the brothers to reunite.
