BYU added a familiar face as TCU big man Adam Stewart announced his commitment to BYU.
Stewart committed to BYU back in April 2022 before his mission to Paris, France. After his mission, he transferred to TCU where he spent the last two seasons. A 6-foot-11 big man, Stewart will not count against BYU’s 15-roster limit. Walk-ons aren’t a thing anymore, but Stewart was a designated-student athlete (walk-on) before the 15-man limit was created, meaning he has an exemption to not count against the limit. He
essentially is a free/bonus player for BYU and can be the 16th player, similar to what Jared McGregor was. He is engaged to BYU volleyball player Rachel Jepsen, so it was an easy choice for Adam and BYU.
Stewart played in 6 games over two seasons for TCU, scoring 4 total points. He gives BYU an extra practice body and emergency depth but won’t be expected to play any meaningful minutes. BYU is still working to add two big men. Sources have told me BYU has one big man on campus today (Saturday) for a visit. He would be BYU’s starter if he commits. I’ll publish my article about him once word trickles out that he is visiting.
