Broncos vs. Chiefs second quarter recap

What is the story about?

The Jacksonville Jaguars entered their 2026 Rivalry Week wearing their sandy beach jerseys for the first time, in front of the Jacksonville home crowd. On the field, the Duval ‘House of Horrors’ continued for the Indianapolis Colts, as Indianapolis failed to make this one even remotely competitive from the opening quarter on, cementing 12 consecutive home wins over the 2-6 Colts. 11 of the 12 wins occurred in Jacksonville, with one taking place in London.

Here’s everything you need to know from Jacksonville’s

Week 8 42-7, 35-point domination of the Indianapolis Colts.

Play(s) of the game:

Nate Boerkircher’s first touchdown of his rookie season was one of beauty, with the “Consensus Board All Star” locating the ball in flight over his opposite shoulder for the touchdown, extending the lead to two scores.

Post-game notables:

Jaguars Backfield Goes Wild
- Running backs Bhayshul Tuten and Chris Rodriguez combined for 217 total yards and three touchdowns, as Tuten made his mark in the run and passing game, going 16 carries for 104 yards and a touchdown, with an additional 55 yards and a touchdown in the air. Chris Rodriguez added another 58 total yards and a touchdown. The two backs combined for 145 rushing yards on 22 carries (6.59 per carry), with the game clearly in hand by halftime.
A Clean Day
- Following back-to-back weeks with 13 penalties during weeks five and six, the Jacksonville Jaguars have seemed to correct this early-season issue, with just 6 penalties against the Houston Texans and 7 on Sunday.
Travis Hunter: Punt Returner?
- Early in the first quarter, Jacksonville sent cornerback/receiver Travis Hunter back to return a punt for the first time in the 2026 season. While the team has toyed with this in training camp, it was somewhat shocking to see Parker Washington, a Pro Bowl-caliber punt returner, taken off the field. My question: Is this move more indicative of the value that Washington holds as a wide receiver building block for the future? Or is the move more about finding every opportunity available to get the ball into the hands of the explosive Hunter? Interestingly, the return in question was right after the opening punt return when Indianapolis downed the ball at the two-yard line.
Davon Hamilton Loss Looms Huge
- While the game outcome clearly takes precedence, the wet Duval weather wasn’t the only thing to place a damper on the celebration at EverBank Stadium. The Jacksonville Jaguars dominated their AFC South rival on a rainy Sunday afternoon. However, defensive tackle Davon Hamilton being carted off the field with a first-half knee injury was the immediate focus of many following the final seconds. The league-leading defense at stopping the run losing their dominant nose tackle is certainly news. The immediate question surrounds the severity of Hamilton’s injury, with secondary questions resting on Jacksonville’s options moving forward, with the approaching November 10th trade deadline.
- Hamilton was carted from the field following the defense’s fumble recovery on the failed trick play.

In-Game Injuries

As a note, the following Jacksonville players left Sunday’s game due to injury:

DT Davon Hamilton (knee)
S Eric Murray (elbow)
RG Ezra Cleveland (ankle)
DE Travon Walker (ribs)

In Case You Missed It

The outcome of Sunday’s AFC South matchup seemed extremely clear by the end of the first quarter, after Jacksonville took an early 7-0 lead via a 12-yard Brian Thomas Jr. reception.

Before Indianapolis could blink, it seemed that the score was already out of reach, with explosive scores from Nate Boerkircher and Bhayshul Tuten. However, an Indianapolis opportunity to create a two scores matchup was quickly extinguished as Ray Lane returned the redzone interception 92 yards for a touchdown, confirming the rout.
