Two Sundays ago, things looked grim. Juventus were coming off a 3-2 loss to Sassuolo, with the game-winning goal scored in the final seconds of stoppage time and by a player who was on loan from the club he just handed the first defeat of the 2026-27 season. It was the kind of performance that magnified everything that we feared might be wrong with this iteration of Juve — and only moreso considering the injuries up and down the roster.
A week later, things are far from fixed, but Juventus are back
to winning.
The latest of which came Sunday evening in a 2-0 victory over Atalanta. That comes after Thursday’s Europa League-opening victory over NEC Nijmegen in which Juventus scored a season-high five goals and probably took out some anger and frustration as a result of the loss to Sassuolo. Two wins in different competitions are a nice response from a team that looked incapable of properly defending just a week ago.
It’s a start, right?
It’s also a nice way to go into an international break that will last three weeks and leave us not totally feeling like we are going to speculate on a whole lot of things while we hope that players don’t come back to Turin with newfound injuries while on national team duty.
