Speaking to the press, Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany revealed that one of the new summer signings has a nickname among the team already.
Kompany revealed that Ismael Sairbari is called “Isi” by his teammates and coaches. Kompany added (as recorded by @iMiaSanMia), “We always call him Isi. And Isi simply has such power, such speed, and is a good finisher.”
While not groundbreaking, Saibari joins the ranks of “Jo” Kimmich, “Phonzy” Davies, and “Lucho” Díaz for nicknames you need to know for reference
in player and coach quotes.
Saibari came off the bench in the 81st minute of the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup to make his competitive debut for Bayern Munich. Saibari had one shot on goal from outside the box on relatively few touches at the end of the match.
Saibari also appeared in the last two friendlies of the season, recording an assist against RB Leipzig in the Telekom Cup on Musiala’s goal. Saibari was one the last to join the Bayern preseason camp after making it to the quarterfinals of this summer’s World Cup.
