A Tennessee defender will miss the remainder of spring practice. Daevin Hobbs, who has missed time for a variety of different injuries throughout his career at Tennessee, is dealing with a foot injury. Volquest had the news on Monday.
Hobbs dealt with a similar issue last fall camp, which forced him to miss the first month of action. He’s also dealt with shoulder problems during the last couple of off-seasons.
The 6-4, 290 pounder is one of the most important bodies on the Tennessee defensive line for 2026. The Volunteers are having to replace Bryson Eason, Tyre West, Dominic Bailey and Jaxson Moi, all while also transitioning to a defensive scheme under Jim Knowles. One that that has remained constant though is defensive line coach Rodney Garner, who was retained by Knowles.
Tennessee was already counting on guys like Tyree Weathersby, Ethan Utley, Isaiah Campbell, Xavier Gilliam and Nathan Robinson to take big steps forward this offseason. Now with the news on Hobbs, getting those guys developed because that much more important.
Hobbs had 30 tackles and 3.5 sacks last season after missing a month of action. The former 4-star prospect out of North Carolina will likely return to team activities during the summer months.
