I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to the Dawgs taking the field on New Year’s Day in the Sugar Bowl. If you’re like me, you asked Santa Claus for a National Championship (fingers
crossed that he can deliver on that one). For our Dawgs in the NFL, some likely asked for a Super Bowl victory, and the performance of a pair this past weekend likely helped put their team in position for one.
Buffalo Bills running back James Cook had a big game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. The Miami native rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns in a 23-20 victory for the Bills. Cook is having a career year in Buffalo. He currently leads the league with 1,532 yards. Look for him to be a candidate for NFL Offensive Player of the Year.
Philly Dawg defensive tackle Jordan Davis helped power the defending Super Bowl champions to a 29-18 victory over the Washington Commanders and claimed their second straight NFC East division title in the process. Davis accounted for six tackles, including two tackles for loss. Davis has set career highs in sacks (4.5) and tackles for loss (9) this season as he looks to help the 10-5 Eagles win a second straight championship.
Several former Dawgs were showcased on Christmas Day games (exclusively on Netflix). Minnesota Vikings players Chaz Chambliss and Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins saw their team earn a victory over the Detroit Lions, ending their 2025 playoff hopes. Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens caught four passes for 78 yards in the Cowboys’ victory over the Commanders. Unfortunately for Pickens, he will not get to continue his career year in the playoffs.
His 1,420-yard and nine-touchdown season thus far will likely help him earn a nice chunk of change in the offseason, as he is set to enter free agency at season’s end.
That wraps up the holiday edition of Dawgs in the NFL. Here’s to a 2026 filled with help, happiness, and sugar falling out of the sky to celebrate a CFP quarterfinal victory.
Go Dawgs!
