Not long ago, the possibility of Penn State’s trip to Ohio State would be a #1 vs. #2 match-up seemed likely – perhaps inevitable. However, what was forecasted as the biggest game of the regular season has lost its luster thanks to the Nittany Lions 0-4 start in Big Ten play. The Buckeyes will be an overwhelming 20.5-point favorite when they host Penn State on Saturday according to FanDuel.
Both teams will be coming off bye weeks under very different circumstances. Ohio State enjoyed a week off after
taking down #18 Illinois 34-16, solidifying their standing as the #1 ranked team in the nation. Meanwhile, Penn State was coming off a heartbreaking 25-24 loss at Iowa, which followed losses to Oregon, UCLA and Northwestern.
Ohio State stands atop the Big Ten standings with Indiana, who are both undefeated on the year. The two programs do not meet in conference play, but seem likely to meet in the Big Ten Championship Game.
Ohio State has won its last eight games against the Nittany Lions, and are 14-2 dating back to 2009.
Penn State and Ohio State will kick off from Columbus at noon on Saturday, with coverage provided by FOX.
