Game Summary:
The first half looked almost exactly like the one in Raleigh. Just like in Raleigh, Lewis went off – hitting 2-2 from 3PT for their first two shots. Tre Holloman hit a 3PT for the Wolfpack’s first basket at 17:11. The Pack got their second basket at 12:41 bringing the score to 5-15. At that point NC State was 2-14 from the field. The Wolfpack was finally able to score and slow down the Cavalier offense and got within 3 at 15-18. Coach Odom called a timeout and fixed whatever was wrong.
UVA went on a 14-4 run to finish the half at 19-32. The Pack was 2-15 from 3PT. UVA had blocked 8 shots. Paul McNeil led scoring with 8. Copeland had zero assists.
The second half started a little better with Williams hitting a couple of 3PT shots, but things got out of hand at 17:36 with a double tech and an ejection. Techs on Williams and UVA’s Lewis, and Scottie Ebube got ejected for coming off the bench and shoving Lewis. The score was 28-41. UVA got two free throws and the ball and when the smoke cleared, it was 28-45. NC State got the lead down to 12 one more time, but the Cavaliers responded and pushed the lead as high as 32. UVA shot 50% (7-14) from 3PT in the second half.
Final score 61-90.
