Real Madrid TV have predictably gone on the attack after Vinicius Jr was hit with a four-match ban for a hair pull that will keep him out of El Clasico.
Vinicius saw red in the win over Villarreal but now faces a spell on the sidelines after his sanction was announced on Wednesday.
The punishment brought an angry response from Real Madrid TV and a claim that Barcelona would have been treated differently.
“Now, regarding Vinícius, well, it’s war,” was the initial reaction, per Marca. The angry statement
was followed up by a claim that “this team has to fight against all of that in the Spanish competition… It’s a different story there.”
There was also an allegation that Vinicius is “poorly protected compared to how other stars are protected” and the presenter could not resist a dig at the champions, adding: “I can’t imagine something like that at Can Barça.”
Referees have reportedly been expecting Real Madrid to ramp up the pressure on officials ahead of El Clasico and seem to have been proved right already.
Match official Hernandez Hernandez is currently expected to referee the big match at Camp Nou on Ocfober 25th.
