Garrett Wilson understands the assignment.
The upcoming New York Jets versus New England Patriots matchup in Week 6 is NOT just any other game. Divisional games count as 1.5 versus any normal game. When you consider it’s the Patriots, the importance shoots up even higher.
On Wednesday, October 14, Wilson told the media, “We’re six games in; there’s a premium on this one because it is our first one, and I don’t know how to exactly put it, but it’s a big [expletive] game. We’re going to be ready to play
[and] I’m excited for it.”
The recent historical numbers between the Jets and Patriots is gross.
“The Jets have finished last seven times in the last 10 seasons, in large part because they’ve been dominated within their own division. Their 13-47 divisional record over that span, including a staggering 4-26 on the road, is easily the worst in the NFL and 19 games behind the next-closest AFC East opponent, the Miami Dolphins (32-28),“ ESPN’s Rich Cimini wrote.
The Jets are specifically 2-18 in their last 20 matchups against the Patriots. It hasn’t been pretty, but everything can change this weekend. If the Jets pull off the upset, they will jump back to .500 at 3-3. Up next? A pair of home games against the Miami Dolphins and Las Vegas Raiders. All of a sudden, the entire tone of your season can change. It all starts in New England against the big bad bully.
