It’s been a pretty good start to the season on the pitch, but some of those vibes have been tempered by various injuries, including the long-term ACL rupture for Levi Colwill and (a potentially) concerning groin problem for the otherwise very durable Cole Palmer.
Thankfully, having missed our last two games, Palmer should be set to come back after the international break, with the 23-year-old himself teasing his own return on Instagram the other day.
“Soon back.”
Hang it in the Louvre.
In less great news, though hopefully not too serious news, Moisés Caicedo was held out of Ecuador’s games against Paraguay on Thursday. Technically, this was a World Cup qualifier, but with both teams already qualified, it did not carry that much weight. (Kendry Páez did start in the scoreless draw.)
Reports after the match put Caicedo’s absence down to ”physical discomfort”, which may just mean workload management or perhaps some sort of precaution … or perhaps something more serious. ESPN Deportes suggest Caicedo may have picked up a knock against Fulham but don’t specify anything more beyond that. Caicedo didn’t train much that week, we may recall, before getting in one session before the early Saturday kick-off.
Ecuador play Argentina next, on Tuesday. Maybe Moi should be watching from Cobham.
