Well, here’s one you don’t see every day.
The NBA announced on Saturday evening that Dennis Schröder had been suspended for three games by the NBA for attempting to confront and strike a Lakers player following the Kings’ game in Los Angeles on Dec. 28.
The initial statement didn’t name who he tried to fight, but league reporter Chris Haynes revealed that Luka Dončić was the player who Dennis tried to fight.
During the game, Luka and Dennis had a back-and-forth that was clear to see during the broadcast with people later picking up the interactions between the two. And, yeah, Luka ragebaited Dennis pretty hard on this one.
If only Dennis had Chris Paul to lead him through secret tunnels at Crypto.com Arena to help him ambush Luka.
What’s truly wild is that nothing about this leaked before the league announced it. The game took place two weeks ago! And no one said a word!
Coincidentally, the Lakers are set to travel to Sacramento on Monday for their next contest. In reality, it was probably not a coincidence as, if there really was a near fight between these two, you weren’t going to be able to have them also play a game without a punishment being handed down.
The Lakers and Kings do play one more time this season, but it’ll be a long wait before that game as it comes on March 1. Given how bad Sacramento is, there’s a chance Dennis isn’t even on the team anymore for that game.
Lakers fans are certainly aware of Dennis’ fiery nature. And while he’s usually the one doing the trolling, it’s not really all that surprising that he got worked up and attempted to fight someone. Hopefully, Dillon Brooks doesn’t see this and get any ideas about LeBron, though.
