Bayern Munich star Harry Kane was awarded UEFA Player of the Match for his two-goal performance during a 2-0 victory for the Bavarians over Union Saint-Gilloise in the Champions League.
Kane connected for
a header goal on a corner from Michael Olise to give Bayern Munich its first goal before a penalty kick from Kane would make it 2-0.
The Englishman uncharacteristically clanged another penalty attempt off the crossbar, but he was the difference maker on the day for the Bavarians. Kane connected on 20/27 passes (74%), including three of five longballs, but was most effective in helping keep the ball as he only lost possession seven times in total.
Kane won three of his four ground duels and one of his two aerial duels as well.
This was clearly a game where Bayern Munich needed someone to step up and make a play. Luckily, Kane was that man and his two goals would prove to be the difference in a game where the Bavarians just never fully hit their stride.
